Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton
crew visits Juneau, Alaska

JUNEAU, Alaska — The Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton makes its descent towards the Coast Guard Station Juneau pier after spending three months patrolling in the Bering Sea Feb. 4, 2011. The Hamilton was commissioned in 1967 as the first Secretary Class High-Endurance Cutter and is homeported at Naval Station San Diego, Calif.

Above right:  Rear Adm. Christopher C. Colvin, Coast Guard District 17 commander, welcomes the crew of the Coast Guard Cutter Hamilton to Juneau during muster on the cutters flight deck Feb. 4, 2011.

Colvin answered questions the crew had and thanked them for their diligent work during the past holidays in the Bering Sea from Dec. 15, 2010 to Jan. 30, 2011.

The writer must have the Hamilton confused with a helicopter.  I do believe "makes it's approach", or "prepares to moor" would have been more accurate.

Since descent means to "come down from" maybe the HAMILTON had her turbines on and she sprouted wings and flew into Juneau ...  ROTF

I've been to Juneau a few times.  Bet some of the crew 'descended' on the Red Dog Saloon shortly after liberty was granted!   ROTF

Coast Guard Cutter Campbell
returns to port after South patrol




KITTERY, Maine — The Coast Guard Cutter Campbell returned to its homeport of Kittery, Maine on Monday Feb. 14, 2011, after completing a 60-day patrol in the Caribbean Sea, which encompassed the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The Campbell conducted a multi-mission patrol in the region including the enforcement of international laws and treaties working for the Joint Interagency Task Force South based in Key West, Fla., and Coast Guard District Seven based in Miami.

The Campbell also conducted an international exercise with Colombian naval forces aimed at improving communications, tactical coordination and teamwork between the Coast Guard and Colombian Navy.

The Campbell is the sixth cutter to bear the name Campbell and is the ninth of the Coast Guard Famous Cutter Class.

Crescent City Harbor receives
first crab loads following tsunami
