To all of my brothers and sisters in service
To all who ever stood in front of a recruiter and swore to defend the Constitution
To all who graduated from a service academy
To all who came into military service through some off the wall government boondoggle (or some decent program I have otherwise neglected to mention)

AND most of all, To all of my shipmates over the years

Thank you for your service!

May you have a great day

Thank You To all of our Veterans and active duty members of the military who have put on the uniform to fight and defend our freedoms. I am humbled by your sacrifices.

A special thanks and hug to my son

Who spent a great deal of time and effort convincing me that recon was a desk job. (Love you son, and appreciate you easing my worries. But, I knew better)

To my big brother

For never pulling punches and answering every question I dumped on you. For being a Soldier that we are all so proud of, and one heck of a big brother.

To Ernie

For his hard work in fixing the birds and helping the young guys stay strong thru their deployments

To LtCol (Ret) Sharon Jacko USMC

Who so graciously kept the good news flowing from the Middle East during her many deployments and in her retirement keeps up the good battles to improve life for the women of Afghanistan.

To the local S.F. Chapter

Who took the time to make me feel like family.

And to one fantastic Soldier, Vince

This man exemplifies what America means to me. He served with honor and continues to serve thru his words and action on a daily basis.

Hugs and Salutes to all.

To all who served:

Despite the middle of the night calls...

Despite the heavy seas...

Despite the poor decisions from on high that placed you in jeopardy...

Despite those voices that said what you are doing is pointless and meaningless...

Despite remembering what it was like to get a good nights sleep...

Despite you daughter crying "because you just got home" and you're leaving again...

Despite you didn't get the promotion you deserved...

Despite the feeling you won't live through this...

Thank you for your honor, your devotion, your doing what your body says you can't, your commitment, your service to the greatest nation on this earth!

I applaud you ALL!

To all of my brothers and sisters who have served, who are serving and who will serve I am honored to be part of our U.S. Military family and I thank you for your service to our country and our citizens.  We are free and will remain free as long as we have those who will serve.

In a Ceremony Today:
The UNITED STATES COAST GUARD awarded Seaman Apprentice Seymour Wittek, a World War II veteran, the hero of New York the Coast Guard Commendation Medal from Vice Admiral Robert Papp, Commander, Atlantic Area, at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum this afternoon.  I have Seymour Wittek story posted  HERE  on the USCG Boards.

NEW YORK- Coast Guard Seaman 2nd Class Seymour Wittek, a World War II veteran, recieves the Coast Guard Commendation Medal from Vice Admiral Robert Papp, Commander, Atlantic Area, at the Intrepid Sea Air and Space Museum Nov. 11, 2008.

Wittek and fellow Coastguardsmen volunteered to board the S.S. Elstero in New York Harbor while it was ablaze April 24, 1943.

The Elstero was carrying 1,300 tons of explosives , as were surrounding naval vessels. The actions of Whittek and his brave crewmembers not only saved New York Harbor but also ensured needed munitions were delivered to the Euroean Theater.
