The CO had asked familys to provide gifts for the crew before we left.  My family sent me a box of Legos as my gift.  At first the other Chiefs poked fun at me; but later they would ask if I would leave the box in the mess so they could de-stress.  I left the box onboard as a parting gift.

Tim ......... I feel sorry for anybody that would poke fun at someone building things with Legos.  I have had countless
hours of fun with my boy Bradley and my girl Brookelynn building things together with Legos.   Bradley and I decided to get
serious one day and see if we couldn't do something really unique.  Well after about five or six tries .... we came up with the
CGC MESQUITE working Green Bay black can buoy #23.

I'm going to be gone the rest of the day, but sometime this week I will take some close-ups .........   Clink!

I don't care what anybody says.  Lego's are one of the greatest inventions around!  I still to this day own about three or four sets and if I was still in Germany would be playin with them!  In fact I may look into orderin some while I am here!  One of the places I am goin to for sure when I Get back there is legoland!  Think about it, a whole themepark chock full of lego's!  I will be in heaven!  I am such a kid.

I had a friend come over to my apartment once and saw all the toys I have and they asked where my kids are.  I felt kinda silly trying to explain to them that this big tough army guy Gorilla still plays with them.  They just laughed at me!

AWESOME RON!

Great looking cutter!  Yes, I'm an AFOL (Adult Fan of Lego).  I'm currently an NXT MINDSTORM creator (I don't play with Legos, I create with them...  Grin).

I'm learning Robot "C" computer language and plan on being a Mentor for the local Middle School's FIRST Lego Leagues (FLL) program (http://www.firstlegoleague.org/ )

Good stuff!

I have all of my son's Legos crammed into this big plastic bin....it's about 42x26x18. I can't even begin to lift it.

When he was in middle school, the "pirate series" was popular. I would buy him the most difficult ones, thinking they would keep him occupied for a few days. Hahahaha....he would dump the box out on the middle of the family room floor, look at the picture on the box and about an hour later have the whole damn thing put together!!! Never even looked at the instruction book.

There is no way I could give those away....I'm saving them for his children.

Poewolf, here's my latest "creation", the HackTrack 1.0.  I use it to learn how to program in NXT G Block & Robot C.  It has four sensor ports (IR, Sonic Rangefinder, touch, etc...) and three servo motor ports (two are used for the HackTrack):

I received a motor multiplexer for Christmas that enables me to add four more motors to the NXT Block for additional functionality.  I hope to add an accelerometer & compass to the sensor package for full navigation capability.

OK, secure from "geekage", stow all gear....  Grin

LTGunner -
My son also collects Legos, I have no idea what his collection is up to now, I can't believe the cost of the kits - he started when we were at Governors Island - Lego made a 10-12' long model of the Gallatin and brought it over from Denmark for the 1976 OPSAIL and had it on display at the PX (naturally) took him to see it and got him addicted.

Both the Mesquite and your Hack Trak are indeed works of art.

Thanks Jack,  I find being creative with Legos relaxing.  And, if I don't like what I assembled, dis-assembly is just as rewarding!  I bet the Lego pre-FRAM 378 must have been impressive.  Ron, there's your challenge; Lego Cutters!

Looks like RalphS  (http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/15232) has the aircraft covered:

Buoy-

Did you build the Mesquite from scratch or did LEGO actually have something that looked like it to start with?

EX .......... Totally from scratch with only my memories and a few photos of how the ship was layed out.  By the way, the chain stoppers are functional.  If you pull the pin the "concrete" sinker is released.  The boom also pivots 160-degrees.
