When we felt rich, we never made it much past Victoria Station, which was also to the left but closer Grin.  Another instructor, Rick (can't remember his last name), an RD2 and I kept an apartment over by Lake Merit.  When we didn't feel rich, which was most of the time, the party was at our place  drunk

Note for Cupamud concerning this tug.

The online past editions of the Reservist Magazine, I think the first 1985 edition, has a story on that tug and its final disposition.

They seem to be updating that website today, because they've only got up until 1983 posted.

Give it a peek, you may have more luck.

Regards.

Dana,

Many thanks for the heads up--I did some scouring around after seeing your post and found the 80s issues, but then had to run off to work. No luck with that first '85 issue and they're missing the second issue, but those magazines have some good historical information, so I'll be looking some more. (Side note--wonder if the CG Bulletin has an archive site like that??)

Best regards,

Larry

Unfortunately they don't.
I'd be willing to give up someones first born if that PA branch could start archiving all the Commandants Bulletins and the earlier ones.

There's just too many bits of CG information that's lost, or very difficult to find. You've got to be a trained researcher to make the trek to DC and dig it out.

For us amateurs, it's like looking for seniority among Ensigns, or virginity in a whore house.

Ya' mean that gal I ended up with in Yokosuka wasn't really a virgin?

What about the one in Tijuana?

I'm not even a PA and I was saving every issue when I first came in--finally, after almost 6-8 years, I dumped them during a move thinking the CG surely had one of each...

Cupamud !!

Larry, the RESERVIST archive site is back up and running. I believe it is the April 1985 issue with the tug info. It has a photo of the " Nubble" light in the snow on the cover.

Dana,

Many thanks!   Thumbs Up

My ride on her was during my Jun.-Aug. 1978 boot days. I see she went to the Boy Scouts in '84--I wonder if she still serves someone, somewhere.

Found this.....it's from Alameda.  Might have been painted black at one time or another?

Stan from what I have been able to dig up I believe that is 56307 that was moved to Alameda from Seattle where she was stationed in the 1960's.
