Not everyone can get to the annual RM reunion of the Coast Guard CW Operators Association , so this "virtual" reunion spot should be a good place to get together, share information and stories, and stay in contact with your former shipmates.

Some may come here because of the link posted on the www.comm-one.org website. If not, and if you're not familiar with either CGCWOA or ZUT, then it's worth a visit.

As time and events permit, I'll salt this place with some useful QUA!!!!

Good evening George!

I guess that I'm finally going to have to break down and join the CGCWOA though I was never issued a ZUT number during my career.  Ralph Davis was one of the best instructors at RM School at Governors Island while I was there in 1970.  Bunch of other characters also - good fodder for some stories, lies and other half-truths.

The only time I practice my CW skills anymore is while watching reruns of the television program Jerico on CBS.

QRU/ZKJ2 for the night.

Great, Mark -- and I won't say "It's about time."

Tell you what: Since you are busy with other concerns, just go here to fill out the membership application: http://www.comm-one.org/PDFfiles/zut_member_app.pdf

Then email it to me, or email the info to me, and I'll take care of the rest. I'll even pick up the first year's dues. (That's probably better than getting a soppy Get Well Card from me and Lin while you're in the hospital.)

It's good group, and you probably know more of them than I do.

Thank you for the offer George. Sorry about not answering sooner but I am spreading myself out a little bit at a time.

I beat you to it and already filled out the application and sent it in with my check right before going into the hospital.

I'll try to spread the word and get some more sparks types on these boards to make it an interesting place.

Thanks again for your kind offer.

I think it will take a while before RMs get over here. It's kind of hidden and, even though I've posted a link on the CGCWOA/ZUT website at www.comm-one.org -- I think I'll have to come up with a way to post some useful information here before we see a great amount of activity.

But I'm patient.

George:

Maybe this is better place for my previous post Re: Master Chief Duane Boser crossing the Bar.

Folks:

Not sure where to post this - but I'm holding an Irish type wake right now (barkeep, set  them up in Master Chief Boser's honor please)... and a lot of communciators and shipmates visit here... so here goes

http://www.legacy.com/Obituaries.asp?Page=Notice&PersonID=106359401

Link is to obit for RMCM Duane Boser who passed away in March (I just found out today).  Duane was a shipmate of mine back in the day - before either he or I were Chiefs.  Great guy; great family.  He has crossed the bar and will be missed by many.  For all the sparkies aboard - pass the word along please.

Duane - you old dog -    I'll see you in the big Radio Shack in the sky some day.

God Bless

RIP Master Chief.

OMG, He was young to go. He was the best instructor at RM"A" when I went thru. He also worked the E club and whenever I'd order a pitcher of
beer, If I gave him a $10 he'd give me back 2 fives I went to RM school twice, first time I got in trouble because of some idiot going back
to Steadman hall taking off street signs on the way down. And being too drunk and stupid I didn't report it. Got tossed for "non petty officer potential"
went back to Sherman for 6 months. When I came back, he was waiting for me.. Damn good man.  Thumbs Up
