Since I wasn't an Airdale nor worked around many, I'm not familiar with the individual ratings.  Opened this up as a general category, if anyone wants a specific rating opened, please say so.

Back in the old days 1959-63 I was an AD3.  Aviation Machinist Mate. Better known as an aircraft mechanic.  Most AD's were the leading aircrewman. Now I don't know what designation they have. It's a whole new ball game. All I can say is that the new Airdales sure have some nice toys to work on. The stuff they have today makes me feel like a caveman.  But we worked on the planes and we flew in them. I got out when they were just changing over from reciprocating engines to jets. I'm talking about the Sikorski helicopters. I did get to work on them and did go to the Sikorski School in Conn.
I still get a thrill when 1 of our choppers flies over my house. Sure would like to be up there again knowing I was go on a rescue.
Those were the days my friend!  Thumbs Up
