Probably.
I prefer the legal way, but, I digress.
I appears snapperhead is considering an insanity plea or some other mental health defense (hence the psych request on behalf of defense).
He has pled not guilty, so I'm guessing he'll try a whacko cop out.

Also, note that it was the DEFENSE who was not ready due to pending DNA evidence.
They must feel they may have exhonorating evidence, apparently... or at least, they're stalling as long as possible.

Forgive my jumping in here unintroduced, I'm not a member of any branch of service. I came across this thread while doing a google search.
I'm a good friend of Amy and her family, and one of quite literally hundreds of people who are missing her more and more every day. I just wanted to share with you that the trial is now being planned for June or July. A more specific date has not yet been disclosed. If/when I find out when that will be, I will update.
Thanks for posting this thread. I had not seen all the articles posted here, and it answered some of my questions. Thank you also to all members in military service. I have nothing but respect for all of you, choosing to give of yourselves so freely. Thank you.

Jenn ....
welcome to usmilnet and thanks for jumping in. As Amy's Coast Guard family we are all very anxious to see this trial get underway and to see justice done. To see our young sister pass over the bar so young at the hands of another just isn't right. Please keep us informed if you hear anything and thanks.

UPDATE FROM HAWK .. APRIL 1, 2009
Quote
I have received a reply from the Assistant District Attorney in Corpus Christi.
It reads "No trial date because the DNA is not ready. They have a status hearing scheduled on April 8 to see where they are on it. Trial date will be set once DNA done.
Court is setting status hearings every 30-60 days to monitor it."
I recall that these DNA tests are being done by the defense side, not the DA's office.

Interesting post on milcom on Friday April 3, 2009 from their new member

danacali .... Thanks so much for the updates. I've been so confused about whats going on. I'm glad to know that there's still people waiting for justice and haven't just forgotten about this case. I cannot believe it's been almost a year since this happened and he is still free. I'm just hoping the time will come soon. I went to school with this guy and would hear from a few girls that he chocked them and slapped them around during sex. This guy is a freaking psycho. He actually killed this girl and he had to have known what he was doing ... he wanted to do it ... it was no accident. It's sad that they are letting a murderer walk free lirking around town. Scary. Please keep on with updates I want to see this sob get put away.

Some interesting and revealing posts have shown up on the CALLER-TIMES website of late referring to a post made by poster 715303 on October 31, 2008 at 4:55 a.m. Here is the post from October 31, 2008.

I unfortunatley know the suspect he is actually my friends brother which sounds pretty crazy cause i can say first hand they are probobly the two most different personality types i've ever seen....
It's almost like thier mom had an affair with some other guy or something when she had him. i've known his brother for 8 years and know him like the back of my hand, i also know his brother micah pretty well though i've never really felt the urge to get to know him on a more personal level because i didn't see him as the same personality type as me or his brother whom i was extremley close with...
Micah always had a different girl like every night he has always needed womens attention i never heard of him intentionally hurting any of them...none of them where ever strikenly pretty girls ... they were all usually not so fourtunate in their looks. But i do know he has had a seemingly hard life his mom has been on drugs hardcore and was'nt ever really there.his brother is taking this extremley hard and has gone into a severe state of shock. it sadens me that he has to suffer as well and none of this is any of his fault, there is really noone there for him (suspects brother) in a positive way exept me and his sister, his dad has been there as well but all his thoughts are on micah right now cause of the situation. i hope and pray to god that justice will be served where it should be and only if it should be.......
Then on March 10, 2009 a friend of Amy's (717313) responds to the above post.

There are a few more posts from others before 715303 responds to the above post on on March 29, 2009.

Well I guess this whole thing makes sense- I used to date Micah and his somewhat psychotic tendencies are what made me break it off with him. Even in that first week
he would choke me alot
but I just rode it off to some guys just being rough but it was at the point when he flipped out over a little joke between me and his cousin that I knew it had to end. He got so mad and on the vicious ride home he showed no regard for my safety and flew threw stop signs and red lights because he was THAT angry... over nothing! So after I tried ending it- he started coming by my work alot and just sitting in the parking lot watching and sometimes just hide around in the store like I wouldnt see him. I was actually really afraid of him at that point. But I never lost hope for his spiritual devolping because he was brilliant- but at the stage he was at- the darkness could easily overwhelm him and obviously it did.
So Micah- Im sorry you took this turn and left the path that was set for you spiritually and in the process- took the life of someone who surely didnt deserve their demise at your hands.

I hope the prosecutor for CCPD is reading the CALLER-TIMES blog and can get a hold of this poster 715303.
Obviously a female who dated and has been choked and stalked by Spanutius.

Well **** .... it's been a year and still this Spanutius dude is walking around a free man while Amy lies in her grave. Just WTF is the prosecutor dragging his/her feet for. Enough of the bull****. Let's get this trial underway.
GET OFF THE POT CCPD Prosecutor and do you damn job. We're sick of all the bull**** excuses and filings by Spanutius' attorney. If for some reason this dude is found not guilty any other possible trail will have grown ice cold and Amy's murder may never be solved.

Bouy,
Here is a copy of any email, that I sent to the ADA in Coupus that I have been emailing regarding AMY's Case.
I'll post any reply.
Sir:
Over the past year, you have been my source of information regarding this case, even though I gather you are not the DA in charge of the case.
It has been over a year now, since our Coast Guard Sister was murdered. We have watched while the case has gone back and forth awaiting DNA tests.
So I ask you,
How much longer are we ( the court, the Coast Guard, the public) to wait before these tests are done? Surely by now, any and all DNA tests should have and must have been run, or is this just a stalling tactic? Whose tests are we waiting on?
If there has been a hearing and a court date has been set. What is the date?
No one is trying to tell you or your office how to run the case. Our sister is dead, while her "alleged:" killer is walking the streets.
Her only "crime", she had a argument with a guy in a bar. For that she was killed.
TIMELY JUSTICE FOR AMY !!!!!.
Thank You,
Jack Hawkins

I received a reply on my earlier email to the DA's office in Corpus Christi, on Amy's case.
In it's entirety, as received.
"The case remains in limbo due to waiting for DNA results. Apparently
both sides requested additional DNA testing. The lab has informed us
that it should be ready by October. The family of the victim has been
kept informed of the reasons for the delay."
So, at the earliest, nothing until at least the end of this year, an 18 month or so delay. Timely Texas Justice?

Iggy is the nick name we gave her when she arrived to the
Polar Sea, no one could pronounce her last name but me so I said we will just call her Iggy. She arrived happy and smiles and seemed to Love the nick name. Amy became a friend to everyone on the boat gave us all many smiles, laughter and good memories.
Amy and I called each other the big sisters of the boat being the same age and the two oldest girls on deck force. We had a lot of good talks and funny memories, from the pregnant nun to breaking into her locked car that was never really locked, fishing in Alaska and posing in the middle of the street for a picture with on coming traffic to make our own version of one of her fathers favorites Abby Road. That is the way I choose to remember Iggy fun times much Love and Laughter. To my Polar Sea sister who's amazing life was cut to short.... I Love you and miss you deeply. You will always be in my heart.
Love your sis,
Ape AKA AAAAAApe!
