Here's what I posted on their Blog.  Thanks for the link gunner.

CBS and Drew Carey,

I appreciate your efforts to honor our men and women in uniform in the U.S. Armed Forces with your Veterans Day Special "TPIR Salutes the Troops".

However, I am extremely angry being a third generation veteran of the U.S. COAST GUARD, having served my country during Vietnam that the fifth branch of the U.S. Armed Forces was not included.

Lest you not take me seriously about the COAST GUARD being the fifth branch of our armed forces here is the proof.  "Title 14 USC: "The Coast Guard as established January 28, 1915, shall be a military service and a branch of the armed forces of the United States at all times. The Coast Guard shall be a service in the Department of Homeland Security, except when operating as a service in the Navy. "

Some have said that because the COAST GUARD is not under the DOD we are not considered a branch of the military.  That is not true and there is a very good reason why we are not under the DOD.  The COAST GUARD is under DHS not DOD because we enforce the law on the high seas. If a DOD entity boards a forgiegn vessel, it could be considered an act of war upon that nation. Also, the DOD is not allowed to enforce the law in the US. Look under the posse comitatus act and you will understand why.

Finally, I believe this slight upon the men and women who serve our country daily in the USCG needs to be rectified by a show of support from CBS, TPIR and Drew Carey.  I would like to see a TPIR show honoring the men and women of the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD as our fifth branch of our United States Armed Forces.

Thank you,
Ron Wilkins

Well said Hawk on the TPIR Community Message Board      Outstanding!

The fact that TPIR would air a show an omit a branch of the Armed Forces is both disappointing and maddening.

Is there no research department at the show or at the network? I recall some years ago that one of the summer PRIME TIME night TPIR featured a Coast Guard Petty Officer 1st class who was the show's big winner.

But that was back in the Bob Barker days. Which makes the Coast Guard's omission even more glaring.

THEY KNOW BETTER.

To Mr. Brown. It makes no difference whether the show coordinated or not with the Dept of Defense, the show's research department could have done a simple GOOGLE search of Armed Forces, something my five year granddaughter could do, and found that there are 5 Branches of the Armed Forces. The fact that a major West Coast CG Headquarters is in Long Beach just adds to the INSULT.

I just found out that while the Coast Guard was left out of the Price Is Right Veterans Day Salute To The Armed Forces,
Ensign Joseph Herd a deck watch officer aboard the USCGC CHASE was chosen from the audience to play the game on
September 9, 2008.  Ensign Herd was there with some shipmates when the episode was taped.

The episode aired November 6, 2008
