I really don't have anything very interesting to say this morning except..... What ever happened to global warming!
I just about froze my butt off this morning and I live in Florida, tomorrow is going to be even colder I understand.
After spending so many years in isolated places such as central Alaska or Greenland, gave rise to the reason I volunteered for so many tropical areas in my lifetime... and also the reasoning I retired in Florida.

The liberal-cons has been preaching for years now on global warming, where are those weirdos when you need them?

Stan, See if you can push that a little further southeast to reach down here in the panhandle as it would be appreciated... if that's a high .  Grin

I just came in a while ago and it was 26....the wind was soooo cold and the snow on the ground made it moreso.

Going to be 60 on Saturday and Sunday...

Well this morning it was 22°on my screened in-porch when I went out to the workshop at around 5:00 am.
This is garbage pickup day and so I must load up the containers and take them out past the gate to the road.
Since I've been back down south for so many years my blood has become very thin  and the cold cuts right through me unless I really wrap up a lot.  I suspect it has a lot to do with old age is well.  Grin

I imagine the Canadians on the beach even wrapped up this morning.

The sixties will be a lot better than what I'am getting now on a high temp down here in Florida .

It is cooler these last two and more years because the SUN is cooler. There have been few, sometimes no subspots of late, and that means less energy heading out from the Sun, so it is cooler. Funny, so CO2 or no, methane or no, the World's heating source cools off , the Earth cools off. Who would have "thunkit"!

Fifteen Years With No Global Warming Doesn't Mean There's No Global Warming, Says EPA Chief

Fifteen years with no statistically significant increase in global temperatures does not mean that the human race is not causing the climate to change, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson told CNSNews.com on Tuesday.

Jackson reasserted her faith in manmade global warming in response to a question from CNSNews.com asking if she agreed with the recent statement by prominent climate scientist Phil Jones that there had been no statistically significant global warming since 1995. (To them it is a religion.)

Jackson also said “we need to move aggressively” to pass energy regulation legislation.

On Capitol Hill Tuesday, after a Senate Environment and Public Works Committee hearing, CNSNews.com asked Jackson if she agreed or disagreed with one of the world’s top climate-change scientists that there had been no statistically significant global warming for the past 15 years.

“Do you agree with Dr. Phil Jones, the former head of the Climate Research Unit at the University of East Anglia, that there has been no statistically significant global warming since 1995?” CNSNews.com specifically asked.

Jackson responded: “I believe all the new information we have doesn’t lead to any different conclusion than what we reached in the Endangerment Finding.  And that is that climate is changing and that mankind is responsible in part for that change, and that we need to move aggressively.”

She added that the U.S. should move to adopt the so-called “cap-and-trade” bill that is stalled in Congress.

“We need to move clean energy legislation,” Jackson said. “We need to move to addressing carbon and putting a price on carbon emissions.”

During the hearing, as she laid out her plan for the 2011 budget, Jackson was adamant in her defense of global warming.

“The science regarding climate change is settled, and human activity is responsible for global warming,” Jackson said.

Later on, she added: “What this program needs is money.”

In a Feb. 13 interview with the BBC, Prof. Phil Jones, ex-head of the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia and among the world’s leading experts on global warming, was asked: “Do you agree that from 1995 to the present that there has been no statistically significant global warming?”

“Yes,” said Jones, “but only just. I also calculated the trend for the period from 1995-2009. This trend (0.12 per decade) is positive, but not significant at the 95 percent significance level.  The positive trend is quite close to the significance level.  Achieving statistical significance in scientific terms is much more likely for longer periods, and much less likely for shorter periods.”

Jones also told the BBC that he does not think the debate on climate change is over.

The BBC asked Jones, “When scientists say, ‘the debate on climate change is over,’ what exactly do they mean – and what don’t they mean?”

Jones answered, “It would be a supposition on my behalf to know whether all scientists who say the debate is over are saying that for the same reason. I don’t believe the vast majority of climate scientists think it is.  This is not my view.  There is still much that needs to be undertaken to reduce uncertainties, not just for the future, but for the instrumental (and especially the palaeoclimatic) past as well.”

Jones became involved in a controversy last fall when numerous leaked e-mails from the University of East Anglia caused critics of the climate-change theory Jones espouses to raise questions about the foundations of the science. Jones has relinquished his post as head of the university’s Climatic Research Unit pending an investigation.

From what I read anyone who has studied the history of the earth knows that the climate is constantly changing.
Making any kind of statement that the climate is constantly changing is a given... But whether or not we are in a drastic warm-up can be questioned and should.

The carbon credit crowd is upset because their gravy train is being cut off since the environment isn't responding to the whims of the environmentalists and scientists who believe we are in a major warming caused by man.

Of course it didn't help their cause when they were caught with their pants down falsifying temperature information... as well as only taking temperatures from certain sites, a lot of which were influenced by local conditions such as concrete jungles known as cities etc.

Is the climate changing?
Well let's hope so because it would be natural for it to do so.
Is it changing because of what men are doing?  Now that's the million-dollar question... since we are truly parasites on this planet who have the power to interfere with natural cycles.
But I suspect attempting to blame it on man-made CO2 may be stretching it a bit.
All the ice cores taken have shown that CO2 only builds up after periods of exceptionally warm conditions, not before.
That's a little something that the carbon credit crowd seems to want to ignore.
