Well what it is worth it sure was a better world than it is today for a child to grow up in.

Where did discipline stop and everything go wrong?

well, it all began in the 60s with the flower children and has bloomed into a bunch of discontented, self-serving, me-me-me, bandanna  wearing bunch of intrusive, impolite, drug fed misfits.......  And most are now in the federal worst states governments and running the educational systems.    Grin

Dr. Spock was undoubtedly the worst thing to happen to parenting in our country.  We used to be able to trust what the "professionals" told us, until people like Spock came along.  I feel very blessed to have had parents (in the era of flower power) that believed they should be parents, not friends.  Now that I am an adult, we are friends.

I am raising my kids in a similar manner...don't much care if they "like" me right now, they know they are loved and that we are doing the best we can to raise up productive citizens.  And do you know, my kids don't have self-esteem problems.
