AYFKM?? The VFW (National) Has Pissed Some People OFF!!

I know that National doesn't necessarily represent the voices of the various Posts, but there seems to be some massive fallout due to the recent posting of the VFW-PAC's endorsements. Here is a .pdf file of the endorsements:
http://www.vfwpac.org/Revised%20Endorsement%20List%20Sept%2024-1.pdf
The fallout starts here:
http://thisainthell.us/blog/?p=20754
and continues on here:
http://www.blackfive.net/main/2010/10/burn-your-vfw-cards-vote-vets-runs-vfw-pac.html
and here:
http://www.mafpac.org/?p=717
In short, it seems that National is endorsing non-Veterans over Veterans and several anti-Veteran politicians. What has happened to the "Vets helping Vets" meme?? In MY opinion, this is reprehensible, at best. The VFW should be JUMPING at the opportunity to endorse a Veteran over any Non-Veteran!! However, that doesn't seem to be the case!!
All I will say is, "Stand By for Heavy Seas and Rolls !!"

It just get curiouser and curiouser Thor. I'm still sitting here waiting for CA to pass a budget so's I can get paid for a job I did in April. Absolutely no incumbent is getting my vote
. Unfortunately the sheeple in CA will be stupid enough to put most of these self-serving clowns back into office. On the national level, I cannot believe that the VFW-PAC is endorsing Barbara Boxer, she is an absolute calamity.

Okay let me get this straight -
If you are black and served but a republican - you lose endorsement of the VFW
If you are black and never served but are a democrat - you get the endorsement of the VFW
If you are female incumberant democratic Senator that helped drive military bases out of CA you get the endorsement?
Why do I suspect some Washington as usual - you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours back room deals for endorsements here? I see no ryhme or reason for the list. Some (D) and (R) probably deserve a VFW endorsement, and no veteran automatically gets the endorsement just because they were a vet - put there certainly should be exceptional reasons NOT to endorse a vet.
This list is just crazy to me!
Don't have a VFW membership - won't have either!

Dunno Sonny, seems like a lot of these organizations have a distinct port list
. I've joined and dropped out of a couple (VFW and VVA) cause I just don't seem to get it (don't agree with their positions). Only organization I belong to is CGCVA, and they don't do politics at all.

Well, The fat lady may not be singing, but she is preparing in the wings.
The VFW State Commander, here in Florida, sent a SCREW YOU letter to the Executive Director of the VFW PAC, objecting to the way the list was prepared and endorsements made. He sent the letter ot all posts, and in the letter said to each member, Vot as you wish.
On the National VFW Web site, this appears.
VFW Leadership at Odds with VFW-PAC
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 8, 2010 - The national line officers of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) are at odds with the VFW Political Action Committee (PAC), calling the methodology process used by the PAC “seriously flawed at best this year and in immediate need of extensive review,” in the wake of the recent congressional endorsements made by the committee.
“Even though the law requires that VFW-PAC be a separate organization, the acronym ‘VFW’ is attached to the committee and the natural assumption is that the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States is somehow making the endorsement decisions. Nothing could be further from the truth, but perception is reality,” said National Commander Richard Eubank.
“Obviously, an organization's political positions have to reflect the opinions of its members. But those opinions can't be perceived as ‘off the wall,’ and the methodology used this year to grade candidates obviously is skewed in favor of the incumbent. That isn’t fair, and it actually subverts the democratic process.”
Because of the controversy surrounding the endorsements, VFW line officers have decided to bring the question of continued existence of the PAC to the floor during the 112th VFW national convention in August. (2011)
While August is a long way off, it will be the National meeting. I suspect that there will be a Tea Pary effect within the state delegations, prior to the August Convention.
Yep, She's Tuning up!!!!!

Even after the National Commander has requested that the VFW-PAC rescind their endorsements and just not endorse anybody, the PAC is holding steadfast with their endorsements. Heads are going to roll. There are a couple of mil blogs that have the board members addresses and/or ph numbers, and a couple of email addresses posted.

I don't understand how the PAC can completely ignore the wishes of the VFW membership. Maybe the National Commander needs to demand that the PAC quit using the VFW initials. Obviously, the PAC does not represent the VFW in any meaningful way and therefore, should become its own separate entity.

Steven,
I'm a member of the American Legion's and has been for 30 years.
The one thing about the American Legion as long as you pay your yearly membership dues they'll leave you alone except for mailing opportunities supported by the Legion.
They will also keep you updated on what's going on concerning new benefits etc.
I seldom participate in meetings... mainly because I'm just to involved with the AFA.
The American Legion's is a well organized organization in most states, especially here in Florida.
Don't know much of anything about the VFW although I could join if I wanted to being a Vietnam veteran.
I know a little bit about the AMVETS as there is a AMVETS compound about 15 miles down the road and they have a pretty nice club with a couple of good looking blonde sometimes bartenders.
Anyone wishing to check them out, the blonde's I mean, here's the address.
