This is how one makes a small link when the url is overly long:

No matter how long the link is, it won't show, only the description. You'll get this:

I hope this helps everybody.  With Thor's help I finally got it figured out but I still see a bunch of folks
with long hyperlinks so try this out sometime and see if this helps.
