Daily (except when I am on vacation or a major holiday) I check the auctions at ebay for Coast Guard items.  I will endeavor to keep a current listing of items on this board that I think may be of interest to those of us who post on the USCG boards here at usmilnet.

So far for my own collection relating to my time in the USCG I have gotten a Mesquite unit patch from Sturgeon Bay, a Mesquite baseball cap and the February 1990 Commandant's Bulletin with the article on the Grounding of the Mesquite on 4 Dec 1989.

If there is a CG item that you are looking for email me or post a message with description on this board (with a pic of what the item looks like if you have one  Cool ) and I will add that item to my want list ... Ron

Actually Ron I used to have a Blackhaw ACTV hat pin that got lost in a move somewhere.  I'd really like to replace that, but am afraid that it's probably a rare item.  Looked just like the patch, just hat pin size.

Didn't some SN stick either a UTB or 82 on e-bay a few years back?

You are mistaken if you think your opinion matters to me.

Jeremiah 5:21  'Now hear this, O foolish and senseless people, Who have eyes but do not see; Who have ears but do not hear.

Mark 8:18 Do you have eyes but fail to see? Do you have ears but fail to hear? Don't you remember?

Politics are like religion... all the morons have blind faith that their people are telling them the truth... when that's hardly the case... These people are incapable of questioning what they perceive as authority because they aren't authorities over themselves. They want to be lied to, and they want to believe the lies.

I don't recall that but it wouldn't surprise me if an 82 was auctioned on ebay.  Twice I have seen one-eighties, the Mallow and Hornbeam.

I keep watching for something I want.  Thought the Mellon patch might be cool but it ain't the one from when the ship was homeported in Hono.

Can anyone help out a Pt. Welcome vet?  Ret. Chief Williams

Hello, I am retired Master Chief Virgil Williams. I served aboard the Point Welcome in 1966 - 67. I am trying to locate a Squadron One Patch, I am a member of the "Veterans of Vietnam M/C," and would like to wear it on my vest. I thought maybe the "Coast Guard Vietnam Veterans" might have some for sale. If any Vietnam Era veteran is interested in joining an excellent Motorcycle club log on to http://vovmctx.com/co.html .

Respects To All,

Virgil "Mad Dog" Williams

I'll keep my eyes open Hans looking for a RONONE patch for the Chief but the problem is there weren't that many RONONE guys over there to begin with and very few of them got the RONONE patch.  Even if I was able to find one, because they are so rare the price will be very high.  Most likely if I find one it will have belonged to some RONONE vet that has crossed over the bar.

I would imagine the Chief is talking about the RONONE patch that looks like this.

That would be it.  Looks like he found one; from the description he gives it sounds like a replica.  Be nice if there was an original available.

Interesting.....the Rush patch.  When the Mellon was homeported in Hawaii "No Ka Oi" was her motto.  Looks like the Rushians copied it!

Hey, that flat hat that's listed? I have the same one sitting on my bookshelf!  How rare can it be?

This is the MELLON patch I am looking for.

Hey, that flat hat that's listed? I have the same one sitting on my bookshelf!  How rare can it be?

Hey Stan. I watched that hat on ebay over the weekend. It went for $95.00. That hat is about as rare as Gunners Mates going to sea nowadays. That hat was sold as part of an estate.

I never did know where that hat came from. When I came home from Vietnam in 1968, they gave me one. I wore it a couple times and got out. I used to tell people that I was stationed on a Coast Guard U-boat. When the CG went to the "Bender Blues" uniform in 1973 or 1974? the hat went away. I wonder how much that hat cost the Coast Guard? I put mine on the shelf where it sat for years.

One day a few years ago, an Ex Coastie on Freds Place was looking for one. He told me he belonged to a group of Veterans that wore their original uniforms to Parades. So I sent him the hat. He invited me to the parade, out near Hershey, PA. I went to the Parade and was pleased to see me my hat get some good use. I figure that when I die, my relatives are going to throw all this stuff out anyway. Might as well put it to good use now.

And thats my story. My hat is living happily in PA and some antique dealer got $95.00 for an obsolete Coastie Hat. My bid of $25.00 did not get very far.

Thank You for Your Service.
