Decided to bring my first post from a thread in the Army AO here.....Sunday is my birthday and it gets me thinking
about Derrick...In 1 month to the day from my 41st B-day Sunday April first it will have been 2 years since Alpha Company lost a great troop and a great friend....my heart gets heavier by the day......

My original post from the Army AO on May 1,2006 ........................... Cry

Just wanted to put a name  to one of the faces on the roll.A year ago today an Engineer brother was taken from us.

His patrol was hit by a VBIED 19:42  Iraq time the evening of May 1,2005.

He was the gunner in the trail vic.He kept the car from getting to close but had no idea this vehicle was loaded with

explosives.The gunner in the vic in front of him said the blast pulled the vehicle towards it before blowing it away.

All in the vic recieved the purple heart that day.One went to germany,two went back to work a couple weeks later.

The gunner recieved the bronze star posthumously along with his purple heart.

prayers out big time, Hon.  Anniversaries are so difficult.  Lean on your bros, they will pull you through.

God, we ask that you comfort the survivors, Derrick's military brothers, his family and loved ones, and lay your tender hand on the shoulder's of Rilla and all Derrick's unit bros.  Many of us are asking you, Father, that you be there, to ease their hearts, and to watch over Rilla, Lord.  Let them feel you with them and Father, give Derrick a big hug and salute from all of us.  Lord, let all these who grieve feel the peace that surpasses understanding that only you, Lord, can give.
