1st Armored Division 1st Cav way back when the 1st A.D was still at Fort Hood, think I heard they are back there now, or partially anyway.

I am not sure how they got my email addy. I don't think I have been on their site before??????

And I doubt they have a clue how little I know about the Scouts. I am a goof ball and perhaps they are looking for some injected humor!

I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, but I'll place it here anyway... move it if need be!

Firstly, I enlisted in the Army at the end of 1946 for three years (Regular Army) for the 1st Cavalry Division, stationed on Occupation duty in Japan. After basic I was shipped to Japan (Troopship) and assigned to A Troop, 5th Cavalry Regiment (Black Knights Horor & Courage.) The unit was stationed at Camp Drake, not far from Tokyo. I spent a year or so there and at the base of Mt. Fugi in the training area. This was my only time in the Cavalry. (Inf.)

The biggest reason that I posted here, is to inform others that have served in the 1st Cavalry Division, that they have a very active 1st Cavalry Division Association, with reunions each year and a publication called the Saber, sent to members of the association. There are also chapters in most of the States.

http://www.1cda.org/

Right now, I'm the Chapter President of the NW Chapter, of the 1st Cavalry Division Association, which serves the western part of Washington State. If I can be of any help, to 1st Cav Vets' looking to join the association and/or a Chapter, let me know and I'll try to help you. /:)P

Former Cav scout here. I was stationed at Bragg (A 1/17 CAV), Korea (A 4/7), and Polk (D 1/509). Now I've crossed over to the dark side and work Combat Support (intel analyst).
